Position Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Project Manager to lead and oversee municipal water treatment projects from inception to completion. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing budgets, schedules, risks, contracts, and lead cross-functional teams to ensure the successful delivery of membrane-based water and wastewater treatment projects. This role requires strong expertise supporting municipal infrastructure or water treatment projects, and a leader with sound understanding of project management best practices and methodologies.
This is a remote-based role with periodic travel for client meetings, site visits based on project needs and company sponsored events at corporate offices.
Key Responsibilities
Project Leadership & Execution
- Oversee the full lifecycle of a project from the planning/transition from sales to design including submittal review and approval processes, to supply chain and fabrication and assembly to startup and commissioning to contract closure in medium to high complex projects.
- Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, budgets, and risk management plans to ensure timely and cost-effective project completion.
- Manage project scope, ensuring alignment with contractual requirements, regulatory standards, and environmental guidelines.
- Coordinate and lead cross-functional teams, including internal teams consisting of project engineers, design engineers, electrical and controls engineers, procurement, commissioning and field service teams to external stakeholders including clients, engineers, consultants, fabricators, vendors and general contractors.
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards throughout the project lifecycle.
- Help foster "One Team" approach in which all team members are actively engaged and involved in project execution.
Financial & Risk Management
- Develop and manage project budgets, tracking costs while also providing proper forecasting for expected cost to complete (ECC) and percent of complete (POC).
- Understanding risk management while tying this back to financial forecasting while also actively managing and mitigating all known and active risks.
- Timely and accurate financial reporting, including timely invoicing with a focus on removing impediments to payment
Stakeholder & Client Engagement
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all key stakeholders which includes clients, consultants, engineers, general contractors, operators and regulatory agencies as required on the project.
- Address and resolve project-related concerns, ensuring high levels of client satisfaction.
- Focus on the customer experience throughout the lifecycle of the project to ensure a favorable experience for our end clients.
Innovation & Continuous Improvement
- Stay updated on advancements in project management processes and methodologies and implement solutions to streamline business and find efficiencies wherever possible.
- Actively contribute to Continuous Improvement process by adding lessons learned and working with cross functional team to identify root causes and help implement long term solutions
- Mentor team members, providing guidance and knowledge sharing on best practices.
Quality Assurance & Safety
- Implement industry best practices and quality control measures to ensure high project standards.
- Promote and enforce safety policies, ensuring all team members adhere to OSHA and workplace safety guidelines.
- Conduct site inspections and audits to identify and resolve potential risks.
Qualifications & Experience
Education & Certifications:
- Bachelors degree in Civil, Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical or Environmental Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (Masters degree preferred).
- Professional Engineer (PE/P.Eng) license or Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is highly desirable.
- Strong work experience will also be considered in lieu of education
Experience:
- Minimum 7+ years of experience in project management supporting municipal customers for either the municipal water or wastewater treatment sector or large infrastructure projects.
- Proven track record of successfully delivering large-scale water infrastructure projects.
- Experience managing multimillion-dollar budgets and complex construction schedules.
- Familiarity with public-sector procurement processes and government contracts.
Technical Skills:
- Knowledge of water treatment processes and regulatory requirements is a plus, but not required.
- Proficiency in project management software (Microsoft Project)
